Supporting Business Vitality & Community Connection in Orleans

Program Overview

The Town of Orleans is launching a pilot grant program to strengthen our local economy by supporting Orleans-based businesses and community event organizers. This program is designed to encourage initiatives that enhance year-round economic activity and community engagement.

Up to 10 grants of $1,000–$10,000 will be awarded through this one-time pilot program. Grants are reimbursable and require documentation of expenses and a final report.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must fall into one of the two categories:

1. Locally Owned Businesses

  • Independently owned by Cape Cod residents
  • Physically located and operating in Orleans
  • In operation at least 1 year
  • Open at least 9 months/year

Eligible uses include:

  • Exterior or interior improvements
  • Marketing campaigns
  • Equipment or service upgrades
  • Off-season programming
  • Website or e-commerce upgrades

2. Community Event Organizers

  • Must host an event in Orleans (organizations can be headquartered outside of Orleans but must be on Cape Cod)
  • Must have a proven track record or be affiliated with a recognized organization

Eligible uses include:

  • Event coordination and staffing (staff costs must be specific to the event ie staff works 20 hours at $25/hour to organize and execute the event)
  • Rentals and equipment
  • Performer/vendor fees
  • Marketing and outreach
  • Accessibility improvements 

What’s Not Eligible?

  • Public art installations
  • Alcohol or personal expenses
  • Salaries or operational costs
  • Projects located outside of Orleans
  • Religious or political activities
  • Projects already fully funded by other Town grants

Key Dates

  • Application Opens: June 16, 2025
  • Information session: A public information session was held on June 26. A Zoom recording can be found here
  • Application Deadline: July 14, 2025
  • Awards Announced: early August
  • All funded work must be completed, and any events must take place by December 31, 2025
