The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation Forest Fire Control and the Orleans Fire Department in conjunction with the Sipson Island Trust will be having a controlled burn on Sipson Island on Friday, April 28 starting at 10:00 AM. (weather permitting)
The purpose of this controlled burn is for environmental rejuvenation of the island vegetation, fire load management, and training.
Smoke may be visible from Pleasant Bay and the South Orleans area.
The controlled burn should be over around 3 PM.
