Mooring & Dockage Information

As is the case in most communities in New England today, moorings in Orleans are in very high demand. We have over a dozen mooring fields that will accommodate various length vessels depending on channel depth and mooring field size. All individual moorings are privately maintained but must be permitted annually by the Harbormaster.

Access to our mooring fields is from town landings, several of which have launching ramps and/or docks and piers. There are also three private marinas in Orleans that each offer mooring or dockage services: Arey's Pond Boat Yard, Goose Hummock Marine, and Nauset Marine East.

At present, a waiting list exists for each municipal mooring field and for dockage at Rock Harbor. The average estimated wait time for a mooring is 8 to 10 years and possibly longer depending on location.

In order to have your name placed on a mooring waiting list or on the waiting list(s) for dockage at Rock Harbor, you will need to fill out a waiting list application and mail this to the Harbormaster Department. You may request to have your name placed on as many waiting lists as you like. This application may be downloaded from the aforementioned website and contains all of the necessary instructions and fee information.
